Wage and hour laws essentially govern the minimum wage your employer can pay you for the hours you’ve worked. These laws also include child labor laws, meal and break laws, sick leave, vacation leave, how are you leave, jury duty leave, and severance laws. Each state is responsible for determining which wage and hour laws that will adopt.
All employers must comply with both federal and state wage and hour laws. Should they not, they may be held liable by the employees.
